Solomon Nassim El-Charif bobbed his sock-covered hand up and down and said in a high, silly voice, “Hey, everybody, my name is Mr. Sheep, and I am going to visit a sheep farm! Baa, baa!”
Hannah Maria Estevez wondered why Papa was driving so slowly. It seemed to be taking forever to get to church. Butterflies danced in Hannah’s stomach. She couldn’t quite decide if she was nervous or excited.
Joseph Anderson Donetti woke up. He lay still for a minute, watching the early morning summer sunshine pour through his bedroom window. It was going to be a hot day again. Then suddenly he remembered what day it was. He popped out of bed and scrambled into his clothes.
"I just love cows! Don’t you?” Joseph turned to look at her. “I don’t know. I never met one before,” he said.
Pastor Chuck looked at the congregation and smiled. “We have a very special feature this morning,” he said. “MacKenzie Evans, would you please come up here?” he asked.
Joseph Anderson Donetti opened his eyes. What was that noise? The morning sunshine poured in through the bedroom window. The soft summer air moved the curtains gently. Joseph sat up. He listened carefully. What was it that woke him up? It sounded like crying!
“Why is that man sitting on the ground with that sign?” Joseph asked, looking out the truck window. He peered at the black letters printed on the piece of cardboard the man held up.
Pastor Chuck looked around at the class. “I see we have a visitor this morning,” he said. “Trevor, is that a friend of yours? Would you like to introduce him?”
She loved springtime! She wondered if she should lie in bed for a while longer just because she didn’t have to go to school, or whether she should get up right away because there were so many interesting things she could do today.
